Connected Factory: OPC Twin integration? RRS feed

    I've reviewed the CF documentation and code but still don't see how OPC Twin is integrated in the solution.

    Could you expand on this? What's the role of OPC Twin in the CF solution? How is it used? What functionalities does it enable/provide?

    Actually my question was looking to understand concretely how the OPC Twin features are integrated to the Connected Factory solution.

    Now, working with the latest master commit of the solution (https://github.com/Azure/azure-iot-connected-factory/commit/2a43f92ad2090c41add7a2ba4b384bf9e091ec3d) I see that the "AddGateway" page is updated with explanatory content.

    Additionally, I was able to connect to different endpoints and browse the OPC UA data nodes ...etc.

    Quoting content from the page "4. Enable browse on the machine endpoint you want to use to connect, browse the OPC UA data nodes and right click a node to publish time-series telemetry for that node into this Connected Factory. The time-series data can then be viewed in the Time Series Insights Explorer accessed through clicking on the graph flyout on the main page of this Connected Factory.".

  • Hi Amparo,  as the first paragraph explains here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/iot-accelerators/overview-opc-twin the OPC is just an architecture pattern based on serverless micro-services and it provides you with the REST API that provides you some functionality to manage your devices. These samples in general provide an already implemented architecture (based on micro-services OPC) that you can leverage really quick and they hopefully save you tons of time architecture, design and implementation of your solution.
