How do you extract raw test data from TFS to excel? Can it automatically refresh/update? RRS feed

  • We are using excel to build our own metrics/graphs using our TFS test data - however, I am looking to see if you can extract raw data directly to excel, and if possible if this can be automatic?  I.e. can we create a data connection between excel and TFS?

    This will ensure graphs can be automatically updated to reflect defects etc. without having to re-download each time.

    (I am a novice so any help appreciated!!)

    Yes, you can create connection between excel and TFS. You need to install Team Explorer to get the Team Foundation add-in for Excel. And then load the add-in as the screenshot below. In this way, you'll see a Team tab available in Excel:

    After loading the add-in, you can refer to the blog below to work in Excel with TFS.
