Azure activity logs export to CSV RRS feed

  • Question

  • Dear community,

I am very new to the azure domain and still understanding the basics.

As I understand, the logs are retained in Azure for the span of 90 days. But due to compliance reasons, the requirement is to retain logs for at-least 1 year.

So far, I am clueless but can think of following 2 options-

    1. Prepare azure runbook automation and powershell script and schedule to export activity logs to some csv

    2. Export logs to azure storage account and set the retention to 365 days.

    So my questions are-

    1. I would like to know if it is a good practice or a recommended to automate the azure activity logs (audit/sign-in logs) to a csv file? (The probably later I will store the CSV on SharePoint Online etc.)

    2. In case of export logs to azure storage account, the logs are stored as a JSON file. Then how to read the logs as an activity logs (Readable and searchable)

    Any help/suggestion please? Thank you.
