Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSB 2016 (1607) RRS feed

  • Question

  • We are encountering extreme slow Windows Updates on Windows 10 1607
Our systems at our customers takes about 2 hours to be up and running again.

We have compared with 2019 LSTC and the same cumulative update on the same hardware

Cumulative update 8-2019 on 2016 LTSB:  Downtime +/- 2 hours
Cumulative update 8-2010 on 2019 LTSC: Downtime +/- 5 minutes

    The system haves 4gb RAM
With 2016 LTSB we notice wuaserv is causing 3gb memory usage on svchost.exe causing low memory pop ups

It seems Windows Update on 1607 is buggy..
    Any fixes???

  • Hello AlexPrimavera,

It is not a bug. The update content for 2016 LTSB is different with 2019 LTSC.

    Best Regards,

    Michael

  • If it is not a bug then what is the issue? I have 90 point of sale devices running 2016 LTSB that have the same issue. Updates take hours upon hours to download/install. Doesn't matter what the hardware is. LTSC updates take minutes.
