Built-in reports return user/access error RRS feed

  • Question

  • When trying to run specific build-in reports for On-Prem TFS, I get the error:

An error has occurred during report processing. (rsProcessingAborted)
Query execution failed for dataset 'dsIteration'. (rsErrorExecutingCommand)
Either the user, DOMAIN\ServiceAccount, does not have access to the Tfs_Analysis database, or the database does not exist.

I have followed several posts on how to add this user to give access, including both in the Reporting Services web management and directly through SSMS. However, I continue to get this error. I am able to run some reports, such as Requirements Overview and Requirement Progress, but when attempting to run Bug Status reports, the error occurs.

During troubleshooting, I have isolated this error to a specific "DB" in the reporting service: Tfs2010OlapReportDS. When testing credentials on this DB connection,  I get the error:

Either the user, DOMAIN\ServiceAccount, does not have access to the Tfs_Analysis database, or the database does not exist. (rsAdomdDataProviderError)

Looking up the rsAdomdDataProviderError gives very few results, none of which helped.

Is there set-up required to enable all the built-in reports? Am I looking in the right place (permission issue) or is this caused by something else?

    Thank you.

  • Hi JManduca,

    Thank you for posting here.

Please make sure you process the warehouse and analysis after you add the account to the SSMS like the following link:

    https://www.visualstudio.com/en-us/docs/report/admin/manually-process-data-warehouse-and-cube

After that please check the result again.

    Best Regards
