Web.BrowserContents RRS feed

  • Question

  • I cannot get this function to work.  Even if I copy and paste one of the examples from the microsoft reference manual:

    let
       Source =Web.BrowserContents("https://microsoft.com")
    in
       Source

    I get the error message:
    Expression.Error:  The name 'Web.BrowserContents' wasn't recognized.  Make sure it's spelled correctly.

    Any help gratefully accepted

  • The Web.BrowserContents() appears to be a newer function. It works in Power BI, but not in Excel.

    For Excel you would need to use something like the following:

    let
        Source = Web.Page(Web.Contents("www.microsoft.com")),
        Data0 = Source{0}[Data]
    in
        Data0

  • Thanks.  That is roughly what I did to get around the problem.  the amount of time one can waste because Microsoft's on-line documentation is, frankly, rubbish.  How difficult would it be for them to put a line in the documentation saying it is not yet implemented in Power Pivot?  (rhetorical question).

    I very much appreciate your time.  Thanks
