Database location... RRS feed

  • Question

  • When I create Azure SQL database I did not choose the location but Azure chose 'Australia' as location of my SQL database; I am in the US and I want to change it to the US West or East location; how can I change that because it's affecting the performance of my website?

  • Shouldn't Azure Support team do that for me, per my request? Because I don't think I ever selected Australia in my resource group locations; the configuration seems to be hefty for just changing a default location. Thank you.

  • Hi Ashkan,

The SQL DB will get created wherever the SQL server is that is is hosted on,  When you create a SQL DB, it will as which server to host it on and that is the location it goes, so if it is in Aus then the SQL server was created in Aus.

Sadly, this will have been an error when you created the SQL server for this.

    Thanks,

    Matt
