I have MSN Live Messenger 2011 on both my home desktop and my laptop, and both are running
Windows 7 Ultimate (64bit) .
My daughter's Hotmail/ Messenger Id is in my contacts list if I go to my hotmail web page, and she is in my Messenger Contacts on my laptop. However, she does not show up in my desktop computer Live Messenger contacts, dispite repeated attempts to add her there.
If I try to add her without deleting her from the web interface first, it says she is already in my contacts list even though she is not displaying in Messenger. If she sends me a message, it will pop up on my desktop, but if I try to reply, it says that the
message cannot be sent, and the text is in red. If I am on my laptop, everything works fine. She is in my laptop Messenger contacts and we can IM without any problems.
At work, I am using Windows XP Professional and she displays normally in Messenger there and we can message each other with no problems as well.
Why is my daughter gone/blocked only on my desktop Messenger, but not on other computers or in the web interface?
It feels as if {The Native Firewall under your Operating System} is blocking the ports of sending and receiving Data ...I suspect Windows 7 ? And perhaps you have a restricted user account. ..?
