Preview and Current Portal Experience is Confusing RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello!

Twitter user @jeroenheijmans would like to understand the relationship between the current and Preview Portal and when he should use one portal over the other. More specifically, the customer is being taken to the current portal page when following the SQL manage settings path in the Preview portal. Please see this screenshot of the "manage" button in question below.

    Conversation with customer:

Well, main issue is they seem to be the same thing, but aren't? What's their relation? When should I use either or the other? At http://portal.azure.com  > SQL > Settings > Users > MyUsr > MyUsr > click "Manage" topright ... takes me to the other site? This little button just opens the *other* Azure site in a new tab...

    Thank you for your assistance.

  • Hi @jeroenheijmans,

Since the new portal is still in preview, Not all functionality is currently available, and therefore you get redirected to old portal.
Going forward the the Old management portal will be phased out and the new Portal will be Generally Available with all the Functionality and more.
You can provide your feedback/report issues related to the Preview Portal at the following site.
You can refer the following article to learn more about the Preview Portal.

  • Hihi, the new portal redirects me to the old portal without warning or explanation, which directs me to complaining a bit on Twitter, where I get redirected to this thread, where I get redirected to yet another place to give feedback?

Thinking I'll just leave it at this...
