Migration of an EMail Server and a Mail Gateway. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Is Migrating an Email Server(MailEnable) and Mail Gateway a Good Idea using Azure VM Migrate or ASR.

There is no PreChecks Document defining Document for Migrating EMail Server and Mail Gateway.

Please Suggest Some Feasible Option or solution

  • Hi,

why you are not migrating to office 365? with all office 365 subscription there is Exchange online protection and you can add Office 365 ATP.

  • Hi Ankit,

Office 365 is a Saas service from Microsoft which provide you with Exchange, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Microsoft Teams. Exchange online is protected with Exchange online protection  (EOP) but i recommend you to add Office 365 ATP.

  • Azure Migrate: Server Migration is application agnostic. When you migrate a server using the Server Migration tool, it will copy applications, configurations, and data of the server along with the migrated server.

Depending on the application, there may be few application specific fix-ups needed post migration. As a best practice, it is recommended that you always perform a test migration and validate the application prior to the actual migration.
