CDN changing content-encoding to GZIP while source is BR RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have an (pretty old) azure cdn standard verizon, compression is off and files are compressed in the source storage, however the cdn is still applying gzip compression to our files, e.g.

    https://az589851.vo.msecnd.net/players/v68/player.min.js.br

    vs

    https://binkiescontentnode.blob.core.windows.net/players/v68/player.min.js.br

The first file has a content-encoding of gzip and a size of 31.7KB while the source file actually has a size of 29.7KB and content-encoding BR. This has always worked correctly in the past and seems to be a (somewhat) recent change. How can we fix this? Purging the cdn didnt help.

  • Greetings,

Azure CDN from Verizon prefers other types of compression over brotli and this is not configurable. If you would like to have your content brotli compressed, you can use Azure CDN from Microsoft. The Microsoft tier does prefer brotli over other types of compression.
