After a "CSO::Maintain_SSTATE_UP session Failed" warning, application lost comm with dtc RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

    From times to times, the ms dtc emits the following warning:

    Log Name:      Application
    Source:        Microsoft-Windows-MSDTC Client
    Date:          12/14/2012 3:54:46 PM
    Event ID:      4156
    Task Category: CM
    Level:         Information
    Keywords:      Classic
    User:          N/A
    Computer:      prd-appA01
    String message: INFORMATIONAL : CSO::Maintain_SSTATE_UP session Failed Error =0x80004005 RpcStatus = 164 .

    After a couple of minutes, one of my services that are running on the box looses the communication with dtc and I must restart it in order the get it back up and running.

    The timeframe is random and the services on the machine run thousands of tx per day, without any glitch.

    The only external resource enlisted on the transaction is msmq. And the network/permission configurations seems to be ok.

    My box is Windows 2008 R2, and the app is running on .net 4.0. The machine was cloned, but I did reinstalled msdtc following the msdn guidelines.

    Has anyone else experienced this behavior? What does this message really means?
