Export created workspace templates of team foundation server RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

we set up a new TFS 2012 installation, but right now just for testing. The "real" server will be set up soon and will have the same team project structure as our test environment. Since we are using the workspace template feature, coming with the TFS 2012 Power Tools, it would be nice to export those templates somehow and import them on the productivity tfs. Is this possible somehow - maybe with the tfpt query command?

    Regards,

    Andreas

  • I found the answer, so if someone has the same question: For everything (Shared query, workspace template) one creates via the Team Utilities Panel, the TFS 2012 Powertool creates a folder named "TeamProjectConfig". In this folder it creates a file named "<TeamProjectName>_TeamConfigData.dat" which is basically XML. So to save the settings for later use, one can store those files locally and re-checkin them later.
