Load image data into SQL Data ware house RRS feed

    • We want to migrate blob/clob data type from Teradata to SQL data warehouse .Can you please let us know what is the best approach to load image data from Teradata to SQL data warehouse?

    • Please also let us know if we can use Polybase/bcp to load data into sql data warehouse?

  • Nothing specified about loading BLOB/CLOB in the mentioned docs. In need of additional information to achieve this using polybase.

  • There is nothing that indicates that CLOB/BLOB data cannot be loaded into Azure SQL Data Warehouse. The following doc details the data types that ARE NOT supported (link). The workaround (link) for CLOB and BLOB data is to use BINARY and VARBINARY data types (link).

    Can you detail the driver you are using, as this also determines the functionality that is available. So, the data loading process is still the same except for these specific data types will require a conversion step before the loading process, to match the target schema definition.
