Restrict automatic addition of Client IP address RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

We have enabled firewall restriction on Azure Data Warehouse (/Azure SQL Database Server) so that users can connect from only particular set of IP Address. However, whenever an user connects (Domain Authentication) from outside the IP Address range, the client IP gets added automatically to the allowed list and creates a new rule.

Is it possible to restrict domain authenticated users to connect from outside the allowed IP range?

Answers

  • It seems like the users connecting from outside the IP range have contributor access on the Azure Data Warehouse.

This allows them to Add a new Firewall Rule while signing in via SSMS.

Could you please check if this is the case.

  • Hi Kalyan,

I verified the access and yes, this is applicable only for users having contributor access.

Thank you for pointing this out.
