Dissectors fro Message Analyzer RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

Recently I have started using MMA tools. It looks quite good and user-friendly. But I am not able to figure out where and how I can enable and write my own dissectors. I guess a similar user-friendly GUI based dissector designer is available.

Please educate me on this so that I use MMA effectively.

    Regards

  • Hello Prashanth,

I don't know any GUI based tools that assist in this task, but the OPN (Open Protocol Notation) Programming Guide is available here: http://download.microsoft.com/download/3/E/8/3E845130-349C-4EFC-B634-C7DBD46140B7/OPN%20Programming%20Guide%20v4.4.docx

MMA (Microsoft Message Analyzer) includes an OPN viewer with syntax highlighting.

An overview of PEF (Protocol Engineering Framework), of which OPN is a part, can be found here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/message-analyzer/pef-architecture-tutorial

Dissectors are just OPN descriptions of the protocols to be dissected.

  • Hi,

According to Microsoft Message Analyzer Operating Guide and it's blog, maybe there is no such method.

    Best regards,

    Jeffrey
