  • Hi Vinod,

There is generally no feature differences for AAS in Gov cloud vs public cloud. Gov cloud has lower demand, so scaleout of more than 1 readonly replica is not supported except for Mooncake. We are working on supporting more than 1 readonly replica in Mooncake. Large skus and dev skus may also not be available in your Gov cloud region of choice.

All regions, including Gov cloud, should support scaleout of at least 1 readonly replica (i.e. customer can provision one readwrite plus one readonly).

Primarily, one should evaluate whether to use Gov cloud based on their regulatory requirements, not solely on feature parity. Gov cloud pricing could be more expensive too. If there are no regularly requirements, customer should simply use public cloud.

    Helpful docs:

    AAS available tiers : https:https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/analysis-services/analysis-services-overview#the-right-tier-when-you-need-it

    Hope this helps.

    Thank you
