Letsencrypt certificates will start to be revoked on march 4 - how will this affect Azure managed-certificates? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Letsencrypt has announced that due to a bug they are revoking 2.6% of all certificates on March 4th. Azure uses letsencrypt for their managed certificates.

This will begin in about an hour (March 4th 00:00UTC).

I have checked my particular domain which has an azure-managed certificate and it is affected and will be revoked.

How is Azure dealing with this? Will managed certificates automatically be re-issued without user intervention? Is downtime expected?

I cannot post links for whatever reason, but if you google "Revoking certain certificates on March 4" you will find the post and the instructions for testing your own domain/cert.

  • Response from Akamai:

We are making progress in the certificate rotations and are working internally to expedite the rotations. We are confident of being able to do so before Let's Encrypt begins revocations.

So, no action needed form your end.
