Force TFS to write builds to drive other than C RRS feed

  • Question

  • On our TFS server, whenever a developer creates a build, it is written to C:\TfsData\Build\_work. I attempted to redirect this to E:\TfsData\Build\_work, but after doing that builds are still going to C:\TfsData\Build\_work. The C drive is growing rapidly and I would like to find a permanent solution.

  • Are you using XAML or vnext build?

For XAML you should start the tfs admin console and change the working directory of the agent.

For vnext you rerun the configuration and change the workingfolder.

Be aware that if any of the buildjobs or projects has hardcoded paths to c drive it will still use them

  • Hi BHenson1,

Which version of TFS are you using?

If you use new build agent, try to remove and re-config the agent using .\config remove. During config, you could enter the path of the work folder for this agent.
