List of special task over all projects RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi anybody

We want to create a list of tasks shown in PWA over all projects in Project Server 2016 filtered e.g. where text10 contains for example welding.

    Resources are not used.

Is it possible to create a view like this and if how. We did not find a way to do it without resources used.

    Thanks for help

  • for reporting like this you would need to use Power BI or Excel (however you want to consume the oData feed).  Then simply create an enterprise custom text field at the task level, and then enter the relevant data for each task in this field (eg welding).  You can then use oData in Excel or Power BI to view these tasks (and associated projects)

  • Ben, sorry for asking once more.

Is it realy not possible to see a gantt chart in PWA only showing such simple data:

Projects and tasks with such a textfield?

In Excel I do not have a gantt chart to show people the time situation.

Or is Power BI able to show it in PWA?

  • Not in PWA, because you are only using local fields, eg Text10, and these are not exposed in the database.  If would be possible in MS Project, if every project uses the same field, eg Text10, and then you open them all in a single master plan.
