Error When Pressing "Customize in Infopath" Ribbon Button For a List on First Try RRS feed

  • Question

  • In the Customize List ribbon group on a list, when I press the "Customize in Infopath" button, Infopath opens and I get this error in Infopath :

Infopath cannot generate a form template for the Sharepoint list.

The SOAP response indicates that an error occurred on the server:

Exception of type 'Microsoft.SharePoint.SoapServer.SoapServerException' was thrown.
    <detail><errorstring xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/sharepoint/soap/">
        List does not exist.
The page you selected contains a list that does not exist.  It may have been deleted by another user.
        </errorstring><errorcode xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/sharepoint/soap/">0x82000006</errorcode></detail>

I close Infopath and press the "Customize in Infopath" button again, no error occurs and the list fields appear. This works on every subsequent try. I have tried this on my organization's Sharepoint 2013 farm and Sharepoint 2016 farm and both have this problem. Why would there be an error on the first attempt to "Customize in Infopath"? Since this occurs from two farms is this more of a client issue or something with the lastest Infopath patches?
