Project Server 2019 - Project ID Sorting RRS feed

  • Hi All,

    We have installed and configured project server 2019. We are using default project ID feature and gaive the sequence from 1. When we try to sort the project ID, we are numbers  1,10,11,12,13,14,15,16,17,18,19,2,20 etc. How to fix this issue.

  • Hi,

    Sort in this case is alphabetically. Do avoid this, you need to force leading zeros for small numbers.

    For existing projects, you will need to change value manually (by adding Project ID temporarily to a Project Detail Page).

    For new projects set "Minimum Digit Padding" to some number (how many projects do you expect to be in Project Online in future?). If you e.g. set Minimum Digit Padding to 12,  a "next number" of 89 will be 000000000089. With leading zeros, alphabetical sorting will match sorting by number.

    You need to configure your Enterprise Project Type correctly in PWA settings, specifically in relation to the prefix, ie a padding for the zeros in your case.

    As a workaround I am trying to create a new custom field 'Project Number' with number type and try to refer [Project ID] using formula (insert field), but I could not find the filed [Project ID]. How can i get the [Project ID] filed in the formula.

    Now you can edit this field on the page and remove the field afterwards.
