SP Designer: Encoded Absolute URL does not encode accentued character RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

The Name of my document set contains accentued character like é.

The issue is that when I build an url to open the Document Set, it fails to open it because of it.
é is not encoded to %C3%A9 as it is when you open the Document set right from the view.

So I decide to use Encoded Absolute URL. Spaces are well encoded to %20 but é is not. For me it must.

    Is it a bug?

Can I open a document set without the using the Name?

    Regards,

    Christophe

  • Hi Christophe,

It is not a bug but by design.

I have run tests in my SharePoint 2013 environment. Here are the outcomes:

    1. Create a document library named “Téam Library”. It can be accessed only with the following URLs:

    http://.../Tam%20Library/

    http://.../Tam Library/

    2. Create a folder/document set in the document library named “Téàm”. It can be accessed with the URL:

    http://.../Library/Téàm

In conclusion, if this is a document set within a library that contains accented characters, it should be able to open with its original name in the URL.

Please check if "Allow high-bit characters" is selected via IIS Manager > Sites > Your SharePoint Site > Request Filtering > "Edit Feature Settings" on the Actions panel.

    Here’s your reference.

    Configure Request Filtering in IIS.

  • Hi Chelsea,

We had the time to check the setting of our server and it was already the case.

But we have found, by chance, something very intersting.

In IE11, we have the issue but in Chrome and Firefox, we do not have the issue.

So we believe that we need to change a setting in IE11.

url in IE11 is ending with FMS_Rechargement%20EBP%20modification%20caténaire ->Issue

url in Firefox is ending with FMS_Rechargement EBP modification caténaire -> no issue

url in Chrome is ending with FMS_Rechargement%20EBP%20modification%20caténaire -> no issue

    Regards,
