ESB Toolkit 2.4 Installation Guide RRS feed

  • Question

  • The ESB toolkit version that comes with BizTalk 2016 is 2.4 however the installation guide is for 2.1.  Does anyone know if their is one available for 2.4?  What I'm specifically looking for help with is on how to deal with the UDDI configuration section because it is no longer applicable with 2016.

    Thanks all in advance

  • Hi

So, UDDI is pretty much deprecated and you should not be using it, especially in BizTalk 2016.

    Please see below thread-

  • Thanks Arindam.

We're aware of the unavailability of UDDI and therefore would like to know if there are any configurations/migrations we will need to do with the new toolkit in terms of UDDI configurations.

  • Thoughts from any other members?

The BizTalk 2016 Installation no longer has the option to install UDDI because it has been removed.  Setting up ESB Toolkit does require UDDI so I'm kind of confused and therefore looking for help from an Install Guide.

I went to Microsoft Support page and BizTalk was no where to be found from the list of all products. What's up with that?

  • Any UDDI settings should be skipped/ignored.  UDDI is no longer supported because literally no on used it.

  • Well, the problem with the suggestion "skipped/ignored" is that one of the main features in the toolkit is the Itinerary services and one of the sample that implement the usefull SOA pattern"scatter gatter" that use the Itinerary service is based on the dynamic resolver that happen to use UDDI for this sample. So, this is a pitty that many samples that come with the toolkit have not been updated to take this fact in account. And, I must add that I'm a newbie in Biztalk and having some working samples in the first place is one of my goal when I start to learn a new language, tool or technology.

  • @SteveSiro  My advice on that would be to not install ESBT at all.  There is nothing ESBT does that can't be done in regular BizTalk.  And regular BizTalk is almost always easier and less complicated than the ESBT way.
