OneNote 2010 'OneNote cannot open the specified location:' RRS feed

  • Question

  • We are in the process of upgrading from Office 2007 to Office 2010.  We currently use WSS 3.0 (SharePoint) to store documents...including shared notebooks created using OneNote 2007.

We have 1 single user who is running Windows 7 on his laptop and after upgrading to Office 2010 today he cannot access any shared notebooks.  If he attempts to go File - Open - Open Notebooks and drills out to the WSS location where the notebooks are stored, he receives the error message "OneNote cannot open the file because the specified location is not available."  To which he can only click OK.  If he goes directly out to WSS and attempts to open the file from there, OneNote 2010 opens but the notebook never opens...it sits on a blank screen.  If he attempts to open the notebook from a link which was emailed to him by another user and he gets the same error message "OneNote cannot open the specified location: onenote:http://(our site where the file is stored)." He can open personal notebooks which were created prior to upgrading to Office 2010.

We have others who are using Windows 7 and Office 2010 and are NOT having the above problem and are accessing the exact same shared notebooks.  We also have users on Windows XP (myself included) and Office 2010 are are NOT having the above problem.

I have seen several posts across Google about this same problem, but have not found any solutions that have resolved the problem.  Any help that someone can provide would be greatly appreciated!
