Spaces in Windows Store Apps RRS feed

  • Question

  • I recently attempted to release an app to the store, I was unable to reserved 'My App Name', so I reserved 'My_App_Name' instead, but that didn't work and now the store has distributed with the name 'My_App_Name'

Info: I've replaced my app name here with 'My_App_Name' for simplicity sake.

  • You are allowed to have spaces in the name of your Windows Store apps. You were unable to reserve the initial name you submitted because someone else has already reserved that specific name. You were able to reserve the second name because it was unique across the store, not because it has underscores. App names must be unique across the Windows Store. See section 6.1 of the Windows 8 app certification requirements: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/apps/hh694083.aspx for more details.
