Enumeration of video capture devices from MFEnumDeviceSources API RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi

If a microsoft surface device has multiple cameras, then how does the MFEnumDeviceSources API report those devices to the calling application ?

Ex. There is 1 camera on the Front and 3 cameras on the rear. Does the multi-cam device uses all 3 rear cameras simultaneously to produce a single image and then send it to media frameworks, then it would probably be reported as a single camera. If this is not the case, will the API report 3 separate rear cameras ?

Please clarify how the cameras are reported to Windows and then to media foundation. How does the API return the list to the calling application?

  • Windows Media Encoder 9 series has a few add-ons for Capture..The 1st is WM9CAP,WM File editor,& WM ASF View.

All are separate utilities and can be found at Microsoft/download center, the Windows Media Encoder 9 series has been retired, use youre web search engine to download, the utilities are still ok at Microsoft.

Also,Microsoft/Research has some downloads for video/photo/cameras/etc..
