LOB Apps not automatically updating on Win10 RRS feed

  • Question

  • According to Microsoft store, your update will take effect automatically in about 24 hours after your new submission passes certification process:
"Up-to-date apps -Microsoft Store manages the update process for apps with online licenses. Apps are automatically updated so you are always current with the most recent software updates and product features."
    - THIS DOES NOT WORK.
We set [Make this update mandatory] on the dashboard of "developer.microsoft.com". Our App targets version 1607 and above as required.
Interestingly, When a user opens the app in Store, since App is installed Store offers to Launch the App. If the user does not launch the APP and waits for 15 seconds - the store starts downloading new build automatically and updates the App on the Device.
However, unless users go the store, Windows LOB Store Apps DO NOT AUTOMATICALLY  UPDATE the App as it is supposed to behind the scene.

  • Hi MohitVij,

Did you use the mandatory setting to enforce mandatory app updates in your own code? When the date for Mandatory package updates is set and your app discover that the package update is available, your app can determine whether the update package is mandatory and alter its behavior until the update is installed (for example, your app can disable features). For more details, please refer to document:Mandatory package updates.

    Best regards

  • Daisy, thanks for the reply. Yes we have checked "Mandatory Update" and the date is way back in past. We have 8 applications and the behavior is same for all. It is NOT updating the App automatically.
