    Hi!

Is there AppFabric service bus functionality in on-premises installations or does one need to use AppFabric Azure? I mean primarily the topics, queues and load-balancing. It looks like from all the Build presentations, blog posts and Service Bus knowledge base that Azure is needed. If this is the case, is there a place I can look into for how to examples on emulating this functionality (with WS-* and MSMQ, for instance) or if there plans to bring this functionality to on-premise installations?

As you might guess from my questions, I'm an AppFabric newbie. Knowledge and pointers are thus highly advices, thanks. :)

Here are few on-premise routing options that I can think of,

    Queues using WCF and MSMQ

    Routing in WCF

Rich Publish-Subscribe messaging system by BizTalk Server

    Hi Veksi,

there is currently no option to install AppFabric Servicebus Messaging to on-prem servers. It is announced that there will be such an installation in the future, but currently you will have to deal with two different techniques.

Nevertheless current plans are that Relayed Messaging, Queues and Topics will become the future architecture for Microsoft-based messaging. So if you do not have the need to implement right now, have a look at Azure AppFabric and learn what will be present on-prem in (my suggestions) 2 years.

    Hi, Oliver!

I tried to search articles or announcements regarding brokered messaging becoming a de facto architecture or it moving also to on-premises, but couldn't find any. Do you web links or something to provide? That would be terrific, though.

There was an old presentation by Tony Meleg on Tech'ed Europe on channel 9 (http://channel9.msdn.com/Events/TechEd/Europe/2010/ASI204). This contains this information. There are also newer slidesets, interviews, etc. around, but this is the most official statement I could find right now.
