    Hello,

We are building and deploying an application that uses the .NET Live ID components.  We are finding that some of our test machines do not have the Live ID components, so we need to install them during installation of our application.  Is there a redistributable package or merge module that we can use?

    Thanks,

    Brian

    HI Brian,

We have just posted the final version of the Client SDK (and will blog about it soon). We will also post the merge module that will allow you to redistribute the WLID parts by the middle of next week. Please stay tuned!

    Thanks,

    Sarah

Are you really sure you want to do this? The Client SDK is currently in alpha-stage and is probably unsupported in a production environment.

In a video on Channel9 Lynn Ayres (PM for Windows Live ID, if I remember correctly) said that a lot of things will change in upcoming versions, so be sure this is what you want to do! It's possible that you'll have to rewrite your entire application because of changes in the Live ID Client SDK.

However, if you want to do this, I think (not sure though) it should be enough to put the LiveID.dll-file (or whatever it's called, I have never used the SDK) in your application folder on the target machine...

But since this is still an alpha-version, I'm sure the team will come up with a working solution for this particular issue...

Thanks for your response and concern,

Yes, the future changes are expected (and accounted for) but I feared there would be no public redistributable package yet.  We are actually developing this application in partnership with Microsoft...  but the PM we are working with hasn't been able to track down anything yet.  He suggested i post here to see if anyone else has overcome the same issue.

I tried putting the DLL into the folder, however that did not work for some reason.  It asked for another DLL, which also didnt fix the problem when it was placed in the folder... i may explore this avenue more for now.

Compounding problem is that release date for the application is set at Oct 29... so not sure if redist package will be available by then.

    Thanks again,

    Hi,

are there any news about this issue? I mean about the post of the merge module for redistributing WLID parts? I need to add Windows Live Client as a prerequisite for my project and I don't know how to do.

    Thanks,

    Francesca
