You don't say which update. SP2?

Is it from Windows Update or are you applying it separately?

As Ian implied, there are more than one "updates." There are two Service Packs, andd they may be pushed by Windows/Microsoft Update, or by direct download. Have you tried the SP2 available for direct download?
