META DATA NOT IN NEW PAGES FROM DWT

Using EW4 I created a DWT and used it without issue. Later, I created another DWT but the pages created from it do not include the meta data nor any of the characteristics (background color, etc). No error messages. I have tried creating the DWT and also a page from it in both the "local" site and "live" with the same result. I have also tried FP Cleaner already.
Manage the Web site using hidden metadata files was originally checked when the first DWT was created. Now, the following are either NOT listed and accessible or they are GREYED OUT and not available;
- Manage the Web site using hidden metadata files
- Recalculate Hyperlinks
- Update attached pages
and similar
I suspect that -vti- files were altered and thereby corrupted at some point. Anyone know of an add-in, application, program or other solution?

Manage the Web site using hidden metadata files
Well, that's a problem from the git-go; I know of no way that DWTs will work if"Manage the Web site using hidden metadata files" isn't active. OTOH, if it is checked, but grayed out, then no problem. It is only when "Manage the Web site using hidden metadata files" is both grayed out and unchecked that there is an issue. Please explain your meaning.
cheers,

Wednesday, October 10, 2012 1:48 AMProvide a link to the page please. Background colors and other display issues are not usually related to meta data but missing stylesheets. I'm also not clear on what type of meta data you are missing but it appears that you are referring to the meta elements not the EW meta data used to manage sites. These issues happen when your meta elements and stylesheet link are in editable regions instead of locked regions.

Sounds to me that you don't have a web site open, only a page.
Did you click Site, open site?Also, metadat doesn't transfer from page to page, it's hidden in the _vti folders

Wednesday, October 10, 2012 4:22 PMSteve, "meta data" in a page would be the <meta> tags in the header section. I assume that's what the OP was talking about, not EW's metadata. This would be consistent with styles also being missing, if the style link in the header tag was not there, either, as Cheryl points out.
