when I ran window 8 upgrade assistant it indicated that Expression Web 4 would require an update.  I am running SP2.  Is there a required update for window 8 and if so where can I find it.

I made a clean install of Windows 8 (not an upgrade) and installed all other programs from the same installation discs or files used for Windows 7, including EW4. No upgrade was required, except to
    install SP2 from Windows Update.
Others here have had to install the licensing fix at

I don't know why Win 8 is reporting that. We have several people here successfully running EW on Win 8. There is no update beyond EW4 SP2, so if you are not having problems, I wouldn't worry about it.

The Windows 8 Upgrade Advisor incorrectly lists EW V4 as an item for review and says there's an update available. It appears not to recognise SP2 for some reason.

If you install a fresh copy of V4 on Windows 8, Windows Update may not find SP2 (mine didn't, others have). If this is the case you can install the 'licence fix' version, which includes SP2.

    IE10

Something else, related to Windows 8, that you may need to be aware of: ASP.Net sites may not work correctly on IE10. This is caused by a missing hotfix on the server, and you'll need to contact you host company to get this resolved.

You may also find that the default 'compatibility' mode in IE10 causes problems when previewing sites locally.
