After installing the .NET 2.0 security patch KB928365, I was not able to execute any macros in Visual Studio 2005. After uninstalling the patch, I could run macros again. Has anyone else seen this issue?

This is known. If you install the VS SP1 then this problem should be fixed.

    Craig:

I installed VS SP1 (on top of the security patch) as you suggested and macros are still broken -- they do not run.

None of our VS 2005 apps worked on patched machines. I only patched 3 so it was not too bad to backout of. Uninstalled the patch, all is working again.

    Hi guys,

As you mentioned your situation can be easely reproduced. Did you think about posting a bug/suggestion on Microsoft Connect? That seems to be more formal procedure than just posting here.

Installing VS SP1 breaks certain code. We use Qt4, and due a known bug in VS SP1 in regards to how it deals with templates, we cannot install it.

    Any other options?

Yes I've had the same issue and removing the .NET 2.0 security patch KB928365 fixes it. Even with SP1 installed I could not get macros to work.

I do not have the aforementioned security patch installed, unless it's hiding there without the KB number on it.

    I already tried re-installing SP1, and that didn't help.

Whenever I try to run a macro, I get an hourglass for a split second, then the hourglass goes away, with nothing happening.

I have the same problem with macros. I'm on Vista x64, so I don't have the option of removing the patch. It isn't listed along the installed upgrades, so I guess it's integrated with Vista and can't be removed.

I don't have the option of installing VS 2005 SP1 either, as we develop AutoCAD applications and SP1 breaks things.

Is there anything I can do to fix this?
