I downloaded "GuidanceAutomationExtensions.exe" and executed the program in Vista Operating System.  During Registering Product portion of the run i get the the following error:

A network error occurred while attempting to read from the file:

    C:\TEMP\ED83B1C1-ADC6-4263-AE1D-8D8401C88236\GuidanceAutomationExtensions - Feb 2007.msi

I downloaded the file twice and got the same error.  Any ideas?

    Glad it's working fine.

In case you're curious enough this is what happened: you ran the latest GAX setup with a previous version of GAX installed, so it ran in "upgrade" mode. For that to work, Windows Installer has to find the MSI for the previous version and it wasn't there until you re-copy it. Once you did that, Windows Installer was able to find the previous MSI, do its checks, and continue installation in upgrade mode of the new MSI.

    Hi Keith,

What did you do after downloading the .exe file from MS downloads? The .exe contains an MSI which should be named "GuidanceAutomationExtensions.msi" and not "GuidanceAutomationExtensions - Feb 2007.msi" like you posted.

Have you extracted the .exe and manually modified the filenames or did you get it as is from MS downloads server?

    -vga.

Thank you for your response.  I downloaded the file from microsoft.  It has a file named guidanceautomationextensions.msi.  The error message however says it's looking for a file GuidanceAutomationExtensions - Feb 2007.msi.  I had that file from back in 2007 and put it in the directory also and then it completed.  Strange.

Thanks for the tip about it looking for the old MSI. I had the same problem . Once i put the old MSI into the same folder as the new Setup.msi and the GAX msi it works fine
