Upgrading TFS 2008 Workgroup to Std. Edition - then TF50626
Hi,
after a while, trying different things, i worked out to upgrade from Workgroup edition to standard, so i have in the registration entry in registry - edition_ct value = FULL
but the funny part comes when i begin to add users to diffrent groups of my team foundation, i got always tf50626 - max 5 users in licensed group.
what's the workaround for this ?
regards,
cosmin

Are you still trying to add users to the "Team Foundation Licensed Users" group? That group always has a 5 user limit even after upgrade to Full. However, the Full Edition doesn't require users to be members of that group like the Workgroup Edition does in order to connect to the server. I'll look into what we can do during the Edition upgrade to actually remove this group, if possible.

To upgrade logon to your application tier, open the control panel then Add/Remove programs, select Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 Team Foundation Server, click Change/Remove and you will see a third option allowing you to "Upgrade to Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 Team Foundation Server" and also add a license key, enter it and click Next.
After that the licensing issues should go away.
actually , i don't have this potion any longer, i have only repair / reinstall and remove
At a guess it is probably the registry changes that is causing that, try changing them back (if you have the original values
) and try again, but the above procedure is the correct way to upgrade from the workgroup version.

i know, but you can use it, when the license key fields are active, on upgrade, in my case were gray /inactive, so i used the trick with setup.sdb
and i try repair / reinstall and is still the same issue
Hi Dumian -
where are you with this now? Were you able to get TFS back to a state like it was before you did the registry edit?

no, is still in the same status, i had no time last week for it, i'll try different config, based on the remark that the Licensed Users group is not need it for the full edition.
btw. in resgistry it is everything ok, full edition , etc.
i'll came back with some feedback
cheers
cosminWe have the same problem, I think. I've made no registry changes. When I enter the maintenance mode screen, the "Upgrade to Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 Team Foundation Server" radio button is available, but I cannot enter a license key. There is a key entered already, but it is dimmed and text entry is disabled.
The "Next" button is enabled and after clicking, it claims the setup is complete, but the server still has the limitations of Workgroup edition.
- Is there a more appropriate forum for this kind of question? I've tried the closest fit I could find in the MSDN managed newsgroups: Visual Studio - Enterprise Tools.
