how many sql server .bak files do you have and what are their names? SharePoint normally has atleast 10 databases that will all need to be restored together for a good restore.
Also, why are you mentioning your 5 month old app and sql servers? Are you going to use these and restore your .bak files into them?

Hello!
Yes, I have more than 10 databases in the backup folder. What are the names of those 10 databases? I have IMSAStateServiceDB, Managed Metadata, NW2010DB, Profile DB, ReportServer, ReportServerTempDB, Search_Service_Application_Crawl, Search_Service_Application_DB, Search_Service_Application_Property, Sharepoint_AdminContent, Sharepoint_Config, Social DB, WSS_Content_Portal, WSS_UsageApplication. Which of these should I restore?
Yes, that is right. I have 5 monh old app and sql servers and I would like to backup into them.

Monday, April 30, 2012 12:00 AMDepends what you have setup, if you want it clean you could do a full reinstall and then just restore WSS_CONTENT_PORTAL and do a database attach, however it looks like you have nintex so you would need to restore that too if there are workflows that have been setup.

5 Month old server snapshots tend to have non-SharePoint problems, they normally lose their connection to the domain controller, FYI.
If your 5 month old snapshots are working correctly, then yes, you can restore the .bak files into the database server and browse the website and see how it goes.

Lucky us, we were able to build our server from the 5 month old snapshot and I was able to restore from the most recent backup files. Thank you
