Looking for a way to export Project 2010 timeline to SharePoint Foundation 2010

This may be more of a MS Project 2010 question but I don't think so.
I want to post my timeline from Project on the front page of my Sharepoint site. After a few hours of searching, I am not coming up with any fairlly straight forward method.
I am hopeful that I am missing something obvious and y'all can clarify for me .
Thank you,
Juliet

Hi Juliet,
If you are using the Project Professional 2010 client, you can build a Project Tasks list and then add the Web Part to the front page of your site. Project Pro can then upload the tasks into the Task list - have a look at http://www.microsoft.com/project/en-us/sync-sharepoint.aspx
Hope this helps

Hi Troy,
Thank you for your reply. I am currently using the sync feature for tasks. However, I am lost on what web part will help me with the timeline component.
Is this a standard webpart that is included with SP Foundation 2010?
Thanks,
Sharon

Hi,
yes, you add the Web part for the project task list (you will see it when you add the web part in List and Libraries webpart). Then, edit the web part and change the view to 'project tasks' to view the timeline.
regards.

Hi Juliet,
Arpan Shah did a blog article which describes the process of integrating Project with SharePoint Foundation at http://blogs.msdn.com/b/arpans/archive/2010/07/26/microsoft-project-2010-and-sharepoint-foundation-2010.aspx
Hope this helps

Hello,
I don't think these answer the OP question (or mine). The really useful part of project reporting in 2010 is the timeline view (not the gantt view)

I'd love to be able to sync this view with my sharepoint project site homepage.
Can this be done?
thanks

Hello ssbaby,
unfortunately, the timeline view currently cannot be made available outside MS Project Client, neither in SharePoint nor Project Server (outside the obvious copy-pasting of screenshots).
Please see http://blogs.catapultsystems.com/epm/archive/2010/01/21/creating-a-dynamic-project-timeline-using-visio-services.aspx and http://azlav.umtblog.com/2011/08/09/creating-a-portfolio-timeline-report-in-visio-part-1/ for self-made Visio Services reports to mimic this functionality, which however requires an accessible data source (i.e. Project Server).
Kind regards,
Adrian
