Getting an Error in Microsoft SharePoint site when Upload the document in document library.

Question

Hi Every Body,

Here is a Big Problem with SharePoint outofthebox feature.When I upload the document which is already present in the document library I got the below error.And While uploading the document I unchecked the Overwrite existing files check box.Because I need duplicate files.

you can't have 2 document with the same name in a document library

for your first trouble, is the document you want to update check out by another user?

Please repeat the same steps and let me know what exception is being logged in ULS logs under 14hive folder.

Yes, You are correct.We can't have documents with same name in document library.

But while uploading the same document in the document library by unchecking the overwrite if exists checkbox we should not get "server error",instead it should display some user friendly message for ex:File already exists.

How can we achieve this?

Can you check the log file?

Are you using the system account or a user account?

I run into this trouble yesterday on a dev environment.. I don't know if it is an option for you but for me a deletion / recreation of the site works...

Are you able to reproduce above error after unchecking overwrite if exists...
