Find and replace within the html of a list

I need to globally update some links in a SP 2010 list using SP Online. The changes require simply changing the domain used in a link from mysite.com to mysite2.com. The field is a rich text field and the html isn't normally exposed so find and replace doesn't work.
So far I've removed disable-output-escaping from the xsl which exposes the html in Sharepoint Designer's design view. But find and replace still does nothing. And though it appears to save okay, the changes aren't reflected in SPO.
Would it be easier to do this with javascript, in the xsl or some other way?

Access formats links like this:
DisplayText#http://www.domain.com
So, you can search for "#http://www.domain", or do a query, you can update it.
