    Hi All,

We have issue with the SP Designer workflows 2007

This Designer workflow is mapped/attached  to a Document Library and in the Library Settings page we see different versions workflows

And some versions of workflows are stuck and not assigning status to concerned groups as it should do.

I would like to know what happens if we go ahead delete old versions will it be in any way effect the already existing items and workflow in progress items.

    Thanks & Regards,

    Naga Sudheer

    Hi Naga,

When you remove the previous version of SP Designer workflows from library settings page, it will delete the tasks from Task list created by these pervious version workflow instances, and some items (associated with these pervious version workflows) workflow status value in Document Library will be missing, it will not affect the issues, you can check below similar post,

    Thanks Yang,

I would also like to know the reason behind the older version of Workflow showing or listing for library items.

Could you please help me out in this?

    Thanks & Regards,

    Hi Sudheer,

When you remove the older version workflow template, it will delete all the workflow instances generated by this older workflow template, and some library items have no older workflow associated cause of the older workflow instances have been deleted, means that these library itmes have no older workflow column status value and display nothing, here is an article containing a workflow process image (including relationship of workflow template and workflow instance) you can check,
