Unanswered Searh Results not behaving as expected with Thesaurus Entries....

We have setup some custom Thesaurus entries -one example below:

-<expansion> LOI Letter of Intent </expansion>

the intent was to say if we searched on loi, it would also search on letter of intent.

The results don't seem to add up, however, - when I search our site on HRW nob, I get 6 results showing the term hrw and loi.  I get similar results when I search on HRW letter of intent - which is odd.  It seems to return only results with hrw and loi - none with letter..intent.  When I search on hrw "letter of intent" I get some 9 results with different documents altogether and all of them with hrw and letter...intent highlited as match terms.

It is strage to see all or noting, and with the expansion set, I would have expected to see a combination of all 15 of the documents - perhaps with a different order depending on which search I did.

Anyone have any ideas on why this behaviour is occurring?

    Thanks,

    Andreas

There are many Thesaurus files on your server.  You have to make sure you modify the right one.  Search for tsenu to find all the locations.  After the modification of the thesaurus file you need to restart the SharePoint Server Search Service.

Thesaurus files are also language sensitive.  If you modify the tsenu file, you will need to have set En-us language in your default language for IE.
