User Profile Sync and target audience Issue

Hi,

May be there is a very simple answer but here is the issue I am having:

I have set up UPS on our three tier test farm. I have also created MySite web app for POC for one of our departments. However, when creating target audience using content editor (tested using both global audience and AD security group), the user in the target audience do not see the content editor unless he goes to his 'My Profile' page. It almost seems like SP does not register the user in target audience until the user goes to his 'My Profile' page. Also, the user has to do that only once and after that it seems to work fine. He does not need to go back to his profile page.

What i want to know is that, is this a requirement of target audience or bug in SP? Note that, i have 2010SP1 with June2011CU. Please let me know if you have any information regarding this issue. Thanks for the help in advance!

Here are the steps to get this working

-> Configure UP sync (i believe you did this already)

   -> Make sure you have selected all the containers which has Users & Groups

   -> Make sure your setting to reflect importing of both users & groups

-> Do full profile import

    -> It might be bit slow, based on number of users & groups you have or you are importing.

After this target audience should work as expected.
