IIS screen after installation instead of SharePoint home screen

Hi,
I installed SP 2010, used SQL Server as database, configured using the wizard. Once everything was done, I typed the URL - http://mycompany-server (Central admin URL is http://mycompany-server:37506/default.aspx). Instead of seeing a SharePoint home page at http://mycompany-server, I see a screen showing IIS logo. Click on the log redirects me to http://www.iis.net/. Any idea what is missing here or what is wrong with my installation? I have tried installing several times and this does not change. Central admin works fine. My site collections include "/", "/my" and "/my/personal/administrator". Please help.
Thanks,
PM

Tuesday, May 08, 2012 8:55 PMI would check IIS Manager and make sure your sites are running. Also did you run the configuration wizard when you were done installing?

Tuesday, May 08, 2012 9:52 PMYes. I did run configuration wizard as I mentioned in my original post. Also, mysite is working fine. It is just the SharePoint root home that shows IIS logo. From what I understand, IIS knows only two sites - one is SP Admin site and the other is SP 80. Since mysite is working, I believe SP 80 is up and running. Mysite URL is http://mycompany-server/my/default.aspx, which is working just fine. Home URL for SP 80 should be http://mycompany-server, which is not working.

Hi Palak,
Have you actually created a site collection at the root of http://mycompany-server?

Yes. I believe it was created by default when I ran the wizard. This is what my site collection screen looks like (attached) when I go to SharePoint Admin.

Hello!
Go to IIS Manager -> to your site -> and ensure "default.aspx" existence.

Thursday, May 10, 2012 8:00 PMI think that did it. There was default.aspx but it was down below in the list, I just had to make it top priority in the document list and now it works like a charm. Thanks man!!

Tuesday, February 26, 2013 3:54 PMI put the "default.aspx" on top and changed this setting for the whole server (in this case MATTHEW-PC) instead.
