update workflow starts not choosing automatically start when new item added

Thanks for your post!

Please explain more clearly about your question. Do you mean you want to update the workflow so that it will not automatically start a workflow when an item is added?

If so, the way you post is right, just uncheck the "Start workflow automacitally when an item is created", and then republish the workflow, then when an item added, it will not start the workflow automatically.

thanks Simon, sorry for the question not being clear. Right, even I unchecked the "Start workflow automatically when an item is created" as the screenshot, but the workflow did start when an item is created. that is the issue I have.

Are you using a custom infopath form for this list?

Yes, it is infopath form document library(filler, not webform), what do you ment "custom"

Custom as in edit form for the metadata.

so when you edit the metadata, is it in an infopath form?  ie title, description, etc.
