Also when trying to connect to company web.  Any help would be greatly appreciated. At this point can start over database is not needed .

    Hi,

Have you run Products and Config Wizard as the Farm Admin?  Confirm you are connecting to SQL server.   What version of SP 2010?  Is this a single SP server or farm?

Ran Config Wizard same problem not connecting to database . Sharepoint 2010. Single Server Farm . looks like Sql is runnning, can see database and user spfarm has connect permission.

Try temporarily turning off the Windows firewall on the server running Central Admin and on the SQL server machine.  Does that help?

Also, spfarm (or whatever CA is running as) needs more than just "connect" permission to the database.  Try giving it every permission possible, and again see if this fixes the problem.

Then you can work backwards to restore security while maintaining accessibility.

Did both and still same error.

Compared with another SBS 2011 and settings are correct.

Noticed there is no vitual company web site in II7 maybe this is issue after reinstalling sharepoint it didn't create virtual company web.  Documentation says to do this in Central Admin but can't get there.

    Hi,

What's the version of SQL Sever? Have you installed the SharePoint 2010 SP1? If not, please instll the SP1 and then check it again.

You also may check the logs to troubleshoot the issue.

Can't install SP1  , still come up with same errors. At this point I need to start over and reinstall Sharepoint from scratch. Nothing has worked . Not attaching to SQL , recreated company web in IIS and central administration site.  Still nothing working.  Are there instructions to reload sharepoint from scratch and create new site , nothing important on old site. Found instructions for 2008 but did not work.

Have you checked whether the user permissions have been altered or what. Do check whether that user is having db_creator, securityadmin level of permissions

    or

Has the password been changed for that user ?

Yes they were changed originally , now they are not connecting although they have correct permissions.
