Answered Forefront Identity Error every minute

    We have recently done a domain migration and with the migration I changed the Farm Account. With these changes I now get a Forefront Error in my Log every minute.

    Microsoft.ResourceManagement: System.InvalidOperationException: This Forefront Identity Manager system resource cannot be deleted.

    at Microsoft.ResourceManagement.Utilities.ExceptionManager.ThrowException(Exception exception)

    at Microsoft.ResourceManagement.WebServices.ResourceManagementService.Delete(Message request)

    What I have observed is that the User Profile and User Profile Sync Services are running and working. Users are being added, updated and removed.

    Any ideas on why I am getting this error?

    Hi,

    From your error message, I have the following suggestion for you:

    • Make sure the farm account is in the local admin group of the App and WFE servers in this farm.
    • Verify that the service account has permissions to the following registry key:

     HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Forefront Identity Manager\2010\Synchronization Service

    If the issue persistent, I suggest you delete the old user profile service application and recreate a new one.

    Hi Rock Wang 

    Also got this error after MS updates has been applied to the  (test)server. 

    Before applying the updates to the production environment - what is the impact regarding all the user if a new User profile service application is needed? - which effect has this on the existing user? does it affect their mysites, skills, keywords or other properties?
