Hi,
If I understand your question correctly, you are trying to access Internet via PPC or SP Emulator.
You will need to setup the Virtual Machine Network Driver available at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=DC8332D6-565F-4A57-BE8C-1D4718D3AF65&displaylang=en#AdditionalInfo
Let me know if this helps.

Use the Device Emulator Manager application, and right-click on the PocketPC WM 5.0 emulator in its treeview, and pick "Cradle". That will form an activesync connection to the emulator, as if it was a hardware device.

Hello Barry,
Thanks for your piece of information about how to "Cradle" the emulator.
My pc is connected to the LAN . In the device where I have to made the entries for the ISP.Is the proxy settings is enough which is selected from the Settings->Connections. since mine is in LAN.
Thanks for your time . I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Hello Suvigya,
Thanks for your information regarding the Virual Machine Network Driver for MS Emulator.
Thankfully, I am able to access the Internet by ActiveSync, by cradling it.

Rupesh
Yes, that is a good option!

I have a similar problem. I am using the emulator to troubleshoot Exchange Active Sync connectivity issues and I cannot get the emulator to connect a broswer to the Internet (in this case a Sierra wireless card on my laptop - or the built in ethernet port of the laptop). I have configured settings, uninstalled and re-installed, rebooted even, and I still get the same error message: "Error - Your Internet connection is not configured properly. Please verify your settings in Data Connections"
I don't find "Data Connections" in settings or in the browser options. I see connections and some network settings but they all appear to be fine.
You may want to have a look at this blog http://blogs.msdn.com/akhune/archive/2005/11/16/493329.aspx
-thanks,

I tried following the instructions at the web site you suggested but I am using the standalone emulator and it did not match up very well.
I am still not able to connect the emulator to the Internet to access the web or the Exchange server mobile active sync connection.
- Try the Emulator with VS 2005. That what the instructions target.
Hello,
I am trying to connect the Pockep PC WM5.0 emulator to the internet to test a simple UDP application but having a lot of issues.
Since I need to follow UDP packet flow I CANNOT use Active Synch for nw connection (I tried and it works for TCP only).
Could somebody summarize the configuration I need to set up on my environment?
I am using a wireless network connection and installed the Virtual Machine Network Driver for the emulator.
I have configured NE2000 Compatible Ethernet Driver to use my wireless network adapter and from the emulator settings I have selected "My Work Network".
From Network Cards settings I have selected "My network card connects to The internet" and set NE2000 Compatible Ethernet Driver to use specific IP address.
Which IP address should I use for NE2000 Compatible Ethernet Driver?
Setting a generic IP address (i.e. XXX.XXX.YYY), if I try browsing to a webpage through Internet Explorer, I can see, through ethereal, my wireless network adapter making a NBS query for the webpage I searched for to XXX.XXX.255, while I normally expect a DNS query to the DNS address I specified.
What's the reason for that?
The Internet Explorer is not able to found the page and a pop up error appears saying "The page cannot be found. Check the name and try again".
Can anybody help me with this issue?
Thanks a lot,
kind regards
Marco
Has anyone gotten this to work yet? PSS used the emulator with WM5 recently with me while troubleshooting an ISA problem, so I know it has to work. No matter what I try (including the cradle option from Device Manager) gives me the same...
"Your internet connection is not configured properly. Please verify your settings in Data Connections."
ActiveSync works great with our WM5 devices, but this emulator refuses to connect to the network. I need to take some screenshots of ASync in action for our documentation. :)
Ok I got it to at least try to sync with ActiveSync. I found another post saying to do this...
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Device Emulator\1.0>regsvr32 DeviceEmulatorProxy.dll
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Device Emulator\1.0>regsvr32 SERDMAAsPlugin.dll
...and then I double checked ActiveSync (using 4.2) and made sure allow connection through DMA was turned on. It actually tries to do it now, but for some reason it keep telling me to fix my password for Exchange, but I know I'm typing it in right. <shrug>
- I deleted the device from ActiveSync and then recreated the partnership. Now it is working. :)
Hello,
were you able to set up the emulator to connect to internet even without Actvie Synch?
Hi,
I was having the "internect connection not configured" problem too, got it solved by looking at the properties for my Lan connection (that used the network card that the NE2000 was binded to) and in Advanced I ticked the "Allow other users to connect through this computers internet connection" box. There are additional settings that let you specift what traffic to allow, ie. SMTP, IMAP etc. Hope that helps.
However, I am trying to get the smartphone emulator to connect to an exchange server as if not cradled and since it is only by cradling the phone that I get internet access then I can't test it. Any ideas anyone?
Paul
Try going to Start>Settings>Connections>Connections>Advanced.
Under the "Programs that connect to the Internet" set it for "Work" and not "My ISP"
This allows my emulator to connect to the Internet with no changes to my system and without using ActiveSync.
There is n't any thing like work but work network.
When i set to worknetwork nothing happened .No browsing.
Am I missing some thing ?
Can't find the VM network driver. The link gives message:
The download you requested is unavailable. If you continue to see this message when trying to access this download, go to the "Search for a Download" area on the Download Center home page.
and search results nothing.
How come?
