windows vista program files protection

Question

Hai all,
i am installing my application at c:\program files\ APPFolder. At the time of installation, default settings are stored in config file at c:\program files\ APPFolder\configsettings.xml .

when i made changes in application , i am updating all settings to an XML file . when i unistall my aplication i am removing xml file.

when i reinstall my application as admin , again config file with default settings has to be created. but, previous settings are persisting, where as it should open with default settings.

please help me regaring this .

It sounds like you are runnining into Vista file virtualization.  Under Vista, you should not be modifying files in Program Files.  I'll look up some details, and post them after the 4th of July holiday (U.S.).

I suspect that you are having trouble with file virtualization.  See the following arcticles for more details.  You might try changing your xml install location to "AppData".
