    Today, when I wanted to download something an error came which said something about a file called MpOav.dll in the wondows defender being broken or not being installed properly. (The acctual message is in german, but if you need it just send me a mail to william.marty@gmx.net)

    After some searching I've found the fix but it is a nasty one! I've done it on my system and after restarting the computer it worked.

    You need to delete Registry Entries so be very careful as you can (or should that read will) mess up your system.

    Why we have to do this manually I can't begin to comprehend.

    BACKUP your Registry FIRST. (Yes I know I'm shouting but its important).

    The fix which came from http://forum.kaspersky.com/lofiversion/index.php/t11199.html

    ================================

     Launch regedit, and search for this GUID:
    {56FFCC30-D398-11D0-B2AE-00A0C908FA49}

      For each key found like this:

     [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{%GUID%}\Implemented
    Categories\{56FFCC30-D398-11D0-B2AE-00A0C908FA49}]

     Either delete the key if the product is no longer installed, or
    re-register the COM object associated with it.
    ================================

    Do the above at your own risk and with very great care.

    I hope that helps

    JQL
